The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.
Our Independent Social Workers are not included within CQC’s scope. They are regulated by Social Work England as individual practitioners. However, given the nature of our Independent Social Workers support to clients, Care to Educate routinely refers to the relevant health and social care guidance and legislation around this area, liaises with the CQC, seeks advice from an external Social Work Consultant, and then reviews whether or not Care to Educate should register as a domically care provider; as well as maintaining our status as an Independent Social Work practice.
We have determined that at this juncture that we are not required to register with the CQC as a separate domiciliary care provider. However, as reflective practitioners, Care to Educate will continue to monitor any changes in health and care guidance and legislation regarding registration with the CQC and will act appropriately.
